Snapdragon 8cx Is Qualcomm's Latest Chip for Always-On, Always-Connected Windows 10 MachinesQualcomm, the Largest supplier of chips for Cellular Telephones, on Thursday pushed further into the PC market with a line of chips designed to Electricity machines.

Qualcomm’s”Snapdragon” processor chips already happen to be at the center of mobile phones such as Alphabet’s Google Pixel telephone and many Samsung Electronics Co apparatus.

Over the past year, though, Qualcomm adapted its chips to run PCs running Microsoft Corp’s Windows operating system, which makes those machines start up more quickly and remain connected to the Internet continuously, much like a mobile phone or tablet.

However, the chips Qualcomm utilized in those early PCs were basically modified versions of the chips it sold for cellular phones. At an event in Hawaii on Thursday, Qualcomm officials stated that they have created a brand new series of chips called the Snapdragon 8cx which is going to be dedicated to PCs.

Qualcomm is calling the Snapdragon 8cx Compute Platform the planet’s very first 7nm PC platform, hoping it’s going to allow for”new form factors in the always-on, always-connected class”. The Snapdragon 8cx packs the octa-core Qualcomm Kryo 495 CPU as well as the new Adreno 680 GPU, the organization’s most powerful GPU yet. The memory interface is now 128 bit broad and encourage for second generation USB 3.1 over Sort C and third creation PCI-E is now baked-in. This will let users connect up to 2 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) tracks to their Snapdragon 8cx enabled devices, the Qualcomm stated.

The biggest difference is that the new Qualcomm chips will encourage Windows 10 Enterprise, the edition of Microsoft’s popular operating system that is offered to businesses. Previous Qualcomm chips supported only the user versions of Windows, making company customers less likely to purchase computers powered by them.

Qualcomm’s move sets it in greater competition with chipmaker Intel Corp, which this past year still derived more than half of its $62.8 billion in earnings from PC processors and dominates this market. Intel’s affiliation with Windows PCs was so powerful that the pc industry referred to them as”Wintel” machines for a long time.

Qualcomm and many others will also be hard Intel’s supremacy in the information centre business. Qualcomm’s processors are powered by technology from SoftBank Group Corp-controlled Arm Holdings. Several companies – including’s cloud division Amazon Web Services, a major Intel client – are working to make ARM-based chips suitable for data centres.
