The newest flagship, which will be the successor to the company’s past year Galaxy S8, is expected to come in two distinct variants – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The smartphone was rumoured to have attributes like a thin-bezel, Infinity Display along with a dual camera setup.
Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business President DJ Koh at a press conference in CES 2018 disclosed that the first flagship smartphone of 2018 will be unveiled in MWC, while its sales date is going to be announced in the event, reports ZDNet. Some ancient rumours pointed into the unveiling of the new Galaxy series flagship at CES into a small audience, but South Korean outlet The Bell past month saidthat the provider is planning to host a launch event for its Galaxy S9 on February 26 – the starting date of the MWC. The Bell’s report also pointed out that unlike the Galaxy S8 launching that happened in Marchlast year, the smartphone maker is looking at a previous program this time on account of the swift increase of this iPhone X.
If we look at some past rumours, the Galaxy S9 would get an improved iris scanner within the one featured on the previous year’s Galaxy S8. Some recent leaves claim that the flagship could have a fingerprint detector below its principal camera, very similar to the some of the lately launched models such as Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+.
If we believe the specifications recorded by Geekbench, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ will probably likely be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and operate Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, although the recently unveiled Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC can be anticipated in most regional variants. One of them both, the Galaxy S9+ is thought to have 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The bigger variant in the new Galaxy S household is also reported to have a double camera setup. But the Galaxy S models are likely to come with a 3.5millimeter headphone jack – the one that has been part of the hottest Google Pixel family and the iPhone range.
Koh also allegedly mention the existence of a foldable phone by the South Korean monster sometime next year and the access to Bixby 2.0 after this year. He’s also said to have highlighted that the Bixby virtual assistant will be accessible across all Samsung devices by 2020.
