Lamborghini’s Urus ‘super-SUV’ will soon be launched in India on January 11, 2018, a bit over a month after its global unveiling at its mum plant at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.
While official pricing will only be announced on January 11, we could confirm that the Urus will be priced (sans options that’s) under Rs 3 crore.
The Urus will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with power and torque ratings of 650hp at 6,800rpm and 850Nm at 2,240-4,500rpm respectively. Power is delivered to all four wheels and the rear-wheel-steering system in the Aventador S will also feature here. Lamborghini asserts the Urus is the world’s fastest SUV using a 0-100kph period of just 3.6sec, and 0-200kph taking all of 12.8sec.
The Urus will play a pivotal role in expanding Lamborghini’s global sales and it is expected to assist triple the carmaker’s sales in India as well. Lamborghini continues to be accepting orders from Indian buyers within the last couple of months, and the entire allotment for India for 2018 has been spoken for.
To cater to the increased need, Lamborghini is in the process of expanding its footprint in India. The amount of dealerships is expected to grow from three to five in 2018, with much more support outlets also being planned.
